Pickleball Premier League — Lucknow's First Sports and Lifestyle Festival Is Here
Lucknow has seen food festivals, music festivals, flea markets, and cultural events. But a sports and lifestyle festival? That's a first.
And it arrived in the form of something most people in this city hadn't even heard of two years ago — pickleball.
The Pickleball Premier League, better known as #PPL2026, just changed how Lucknow thinks about sport, community, and a good time — all in one weekend.
What Is the Pickleball Premier League?
The Pickleball Premier League is Lucknow's first organised pickleball league — and more than that, it's a full-scale sports and lifestyle festival built around the game.
Think competitive matches between national and international players. A food park running all day. Live music acts performing every evening. Shopping pop-ups. A wellness zone. Games, fan zones, activity areas, and a bar. All of it happening together across three consecutive days.
The tagline says it best: More than a league. It's a lifestyle festival.
Presented by Crescent Square, Vibhuti Khand, and powered by HSBC and Skoda Speed Works — PPL 2026 was held on 2nd, 3rd and 4th October 2026 at The Aviyaan, IIM Road, Lucknow.

But First — What Is Pickleball?
If you've never played or seen pickleball, here's the short version.
Pickleball is a racquet sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. It's played on a court smaller than a tennis court, with a paddle and a perforated plastic ball. It's fast, social, and genuinely easy to pick up — which is a big reason why it's exploded in popularity across the world over the last few years.
In India, the sport is growing rapidly. Cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru already have active pickleball communities. Lucknow is now officially on that map.
Inaugurated by Shri Akhilesh Yadav
The Pickleball Premier League 2026 opened on Day 1 with a moment that marked just how significant this event was for the city.
Shri Akhilesh Yadav — former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Samajwadi Party national president — attended as the Guest of Honour for the opening ceremony on 2nd October 2026.
His presence at an event like this wasn't just ceremonial. It was a signal — that sport in Lucknow is being taken seriously. That the city's younger, active generation deserves events built for them. And that pickleball, as a sport, has arrived in Uttar Pradesh in a meaningful way.
The opening ceremony kicked off at 10:00 AM, setting the tone for three days of non-stop action that followed.
Three Days. One League. Non-Stop Action.
Day 1 — The Opening Day | 2nd October 2026
The first day set the energy for everything that followed.
After the opening ceremony with Shri Akhilesh Yadav at 10 AM, pickleball league matches ran from 11 AM through the evening. At 4 PM, a Pickleball Influencer Tourney brought a fun, lighter energy to the courts — local creators going head to head in a more social, accessible format.
Running simultaneously from 4–6 PM was PickleFit at the Wellness Zone — a running and functional circuit for those who wanted to get physical off the courts. And from 5:30–7 PM, Tape a Tale: Ghar brought something unexpected — a storytelling and poetry session adding a cultural, artistic layer to what was already a packed day.
The food park was open throughout.
Day 2 — The Saturday Showdown | 3rd October 2026
Day 2 was the longest stretch of matches — pickleball league games ran from 11 AM all the way through to 9 PM. PickleFit continued at the Wellness Zone in the afternoon.
As the evening arrived, the festival shifted from sport to celebration.
Drishti & Yash took the stage from 6 PM — a live singing duo covering jazz and Bollywood, giving the crowd a chance to breathe, sit back, and enjoy something beautiful. Then from 8 PM, DJ Prakhar took over with BollyTech — and the night properly began.
Day 3 — The Grand Finale | 4th October 2026
The final day was everything a closing weekend should be.
Morning and afternoon were for the last league matches and then — the knockouts. By 2 PM, the competition had narrowed to the best of the best.
The Final Serve — the festival's closing music block — ran through the evening:
4:00–6:00 PM: DJ 27 (Opening Act)
6:00–8:00 PM: Ashna Malik (Headliner)
8:00–10:00 PM: Bonzai (Closing Act)
At 7:30 PM, the Pickleball Finals and Closing Ceremony brought the competitive side of PPL 2026 to its conclusion — with the bar open and the food park running throughout.
More Than a Tournament
What made PPL 2026 genuinely special wasn't just the sport. It was everything that happened around it.
Food Park — open throughout all three days, every day. A proper spread of food stalls serving everything you'd want while watching matches or catching a live act.
Live Music — three evenings of actual performances. Not background playlist music — real artists, proper sets, crowd energy.
Shopping Pop-Ups — curated stalls for those who wanted to browse and buy between sessions.
Kids Zone — a dedicated space for families, making this an event the whole city could come to, not just the sport crowd.
Bar — "Something's always pouring." Enough said.
PickleFit Wellness Zone — running and functional circuit on Day 1 and Day 2 for those who wanted to work out alongside the festival energy.
Fan Zones and Activities — photo zones, games, interactive spaces that made the whole venue feel alive even when you weren't watching a match.
The Numbers That Said It All
400+ guests across the three days. National and international players competing on Lucknow courts. A closing night headlined by Ashna Malik. A Guest of Honour who is one of UP's most prominent political figures. Sponsors including HSBC and Skoda Speed Works — names that don't associate lightly.
This wasn't a small local tournament. This was Lucknow's first real sports lifestyle event — and by all accounts, it delivered.
What PPL Means for Lucknow
Pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world right now. It's accessible — you can learn the basics in an afternoon. It's social — doubles is the standard format and the courts are small enough that you're always close to the action. And it's genuinely fun at every level, whether you're competing seriously or playing your first game.
PPL 2026 introduced that sport to Lucknow at scale — not quietly, not gradually, but with a three-day festival, a political guest of honour, live music, 400+ attendees, and enough energy to make the city take notice.
Lucknow now has a pickleball community. It has courts people are using. It has a league format to compete in. And it has The Aviyaan — a venue that showed it can host something like this and host it well.
This is just Season 1. The next serve is coming.
